Discovering the Power in Me (DPM), Melbourne - July 2017
Spire recently held its second Discovering the Power in Me (DPM) workshop for 2017. After the success of the Shepparton workshop it was time for Melbourne Metro to have their turn. The workshop was held at the Preston Library within the Darebin municipality. This was a great venue as the train station was nearby and parking was plentiful, thanks to the Darebin City Council Traffic department.
The traffic department specifically cordoned off a parking area for our participants at the front of the library for all three days. The three day workshop was well attended, with some participants travelling from as far as Berwick and Beaconsfield.
The group discussions were highly interactive, and it was good to hear a variety of views from the participants on how they deal with their day-to-day challenges with SCI. As one participant put it,"This course has given me the tools to help me identify where I need to make changes in my thoughts and behaviour to provide positive results in my life. ”Goal setting strategies were discussed, along with different ways of changing one's mindset when the going gets tough.
As one participant simply put it “It has made me think more positively of my abilities to solve problems”.
