Discovering the Power in Me in Shepparton

22 March, 2017

The Shepparton SCI Regional Network group took part in Discovering the Power in Me (DPM). It ran one day per week, over three weeks across March/April.

Before attending DPM, the group was a little hesitant about what the workshop would have in store for them, but it didn’t take long for everyone to warm up and fruitful discussions to start flowing. The group was made up of members that were quite newly injured to others that have been living with a SCI for many years.

It was great to hear so many different thoughts and ideas about the journeys that each person had travelled so far, as well as the varying opinions and experiences throughout different stages of their spinal cord injuries.

Over the three days of the workshop the group learnt many new ways in which to deal with life’s challenges with SCI, as well as different ways to look at life in general. They enjoyed finding creative solutions to potential barriers, thinking outside the box, understanding a bit more about how the mind works and getting to know one another more!

"It was great to do this course with others - lot of fun and learning on how to move forward"
