Ballarat Regional SCI Network Meeting – March 2018

17 March, 2018

For the March 2018 Ballarat SCI Regional Network meeting, the group visited the beautiful Ballarat Botanical Gardens, viewing the spectacular flowers of the Begonia Festival.

Apart from the beautiful gardens at the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, there are other attractions that include statues, a conservatory, a Prime Ministers Walk, and a Prisoners of War memorial. The Begonia Festival is one week event held once a year in autumn and apart from the award-winning Begonia flowers, there is also entertainment, activities and markets! There was lots of interest from the local people too, with many coming in as a large group by bus!

The group enjoyed viewing the spectacular colours and variety of the Begonias and would recommend anyone to go at see them.

After spending some time viewing the flowers, the group took a stroll on the Prime Minsters Avenue. This pathway has statues of past Australian Prime Ministers. Unfortunately the soil and rocks of the pathway was quite soft, so those on wheels had a bit of an “off-road adventure” navigating the path before catching up over lunch!
