Gippsland SCI Regional Network Meeting - November 2018
After the first successful meeting last month, the Gippsland SCI Regional Network met again at the Traralgon Greyhound Racing Club for lunch and further discussion on what activities they want to do in the near future. Approximately 12 people attended which included family, carers and a few new faces too.
Accessible travel was the main topic of discussion at this meeting, with some people already having adventures in Australia and others hoping to travel overseas for the first time. Naz spoke how it’s very possible to travel to different countries; one just needs to be open-minded/ flexible about the opportunities and barriers that you may face.
However, good planning is still very important and it pays to do your research and ask questions. Everyone also shared some tips and tricks from their past travels, such as Qantas and Virgin allowing companion card holders to travel at discounted rate, bringing your cushion to sit on the plane, and being aware that the word ‘accessible’ may mean different things to different people in different countries.
Overall it was an enjoyable meeting with different topics touched on. We’d like to thank the Traralgon Greyhound Racing Club for being so accommodating the group.
