Geelong SCI Regional Network Meeting - October 2018
In October, the Geelong SCI Regional Network met at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club to learn from each other’s travelling experiences and also welcomed a new member to the group. After a few introductions and catch up between the group, everyone shared their travel experiences and provided some tips and tricks for the novice travellers. Cruises were a very popular way to travel, with one member speaking about how accessible most of the ports were during his European cruise. He advised to book the wheelchair-friendly rooms well in advance and to organise equipment to be available at the destination.
Apart from Europe, other accessible destinations discussed included Japan, Hawaii, and USA. Although many people in the group had not travelled extensively before, everyone agreed that with good research and an open mind, one can enjoy traveling in almost any country. The Network continued discussing travels and potential group day trips over lunch. However, now that the weather is warming up, the group is firstly looking forward to start trying outdoor activities next month!
