Trying out tenpin bowling and having a ball

28 June, 2019

In the first month of winter, Ballarat Regional Network members went tenpin bowling at an accessible bowling alley with a retro and nostalgic atmosphere.

The venue, OZ Tenpin in North Ballarat, has wheelchair access, light bowling balls, bowling ramps and bumper bowling.

Everyone, including family and carers, had a go at bowling as straight as possible using the bowling ramp or by hand, and were helped out by the bumpers on the sides.

People waiting their turn gave shouts of encouragement. We had a few beginners (who loved the experience), some leisure bowlers, and a few experienced people who bowled strikes!

We kept score but everyone had fun regardless of where they finished.

Afterwards we enjoyed a social lunch at the nearby Golf House Hotel, which had plenty space and a room to accommodate our big and chatty group.

It was a great June leisure day, and there’s no doubt we’ll be back as a group or on our own in the near future for more bowling fun. Many thanks to two of our members for suggesting the activity and lunch venue!
