AQA is on the move!

23 August, 2018

AQA Victoria was established in the mid-1980s by people with quadriplegia who saw a need for improved access to information and support, specifically for those who had sustained a spinal cord injury. Since then, AQA has occupied two offices. We have been at 440 Heidelberg Road, Fairfield, for the past 18 years.

Our services and supports have continued to grow and diversify. Our need for spaces in which to train staff and volunteers has increased, and for some time we have envisioned creating a space in which our community can meet.

This significant growth, especially over the past couple of years, has also meant that we have occupied every square inch of the current office. So, we are on the move!

A work in progress!

It took us about 18 months to find a suitable location, but we are happy to report that we have done so – and that it is only half a block down the road, at 416 Heidelberg Road.

Much of the building at this property had been reserved for use as an open warehouse. Securing it has allowed us the flexibility to engage an office fit-out company to design and construct an innovative and creative interior, to suit our growing needs.

We are also using this opportunity to engage with our community further, creating welcoming spaces in which our community can meet. We are very much looking forward to bringing this vision to fruition.

This significant capital expenditure is a considered and strategic investment in AQA services and supports, and the infrastructure to sustain them.

Over the coming months we will continue to tell this story as it unfolds, so watch this space!
