"I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become!"
Dad of two young boys, online telecommunications, energy and security business owner, part time administration assistant at Collingwood Football Club Foundation and Robert Rose Foundation, final year Geospatial Science student and true sports lover – Roy does it all! He’s positive and full of energy, in love and just recently got married.
Baseball, cricket, AFL, gridiron and motorsport are some of his top favourites and Roy has recently started playing wheelchair AFL. Roy also enjoys reading, music, spending time with family, computers and personal development.
Roy worked hard and found his way out of the depression he had been suffering from since before his injury. In his words, “It took me a while to come out of my shell and find myself again”. He found the Incomplete Support Group and counselling, offered by Independence Australia very helpful.
Roy uses a manual wheelchair, a recumbent exercise bike and attends his local gym regularly to improve fitness, mobility and strength . He drives an unmodified hatchback and lives at home with his wife and their two young sons. He has flown interstate a number of times and has appeared on two NDIS participant videos, Channel 9 news and Channel 7's Sunrise.
Roy is living with C1 incomplete spinal cord injury for the past 11 years.
